Why Mediation?

Are you experiencing a family breakup or facing complex emotional and practical challenges that require a thoughtful, balanced solution?

Mediation offers a compassionate and effective alternative to traditional court proceedings. Rather than engaging in an adversarial legal battle, mediation creates a collaborative space where all parties can be heard and respected. It encourages open communication, mutual understanding, and cooperative problem-solving, allowing families to address difficult issues—such as parenting arrangements, property division, or financial matters—in a way that prioritizes long-term well-being over short-term conflict.

Unlike litigation which can be costly, time-consuming, and emotionally draining, mediation is typically more affordable, flexible, and private. It empowers individuals to make their own informed decisions with the support of a neutral, trained mediator who guides the process and helps manage discussions constructively.

Whether you are separating, divorcing, or navigating co-parenting challenges, mediation offers a path toward resolution that preserves dignity, reduces stress, and promotes healthier relationships—especially when children are involved.

Choosing mediation means you are choosing cooperation over confrontation and solutions that reflect your unique family situation rather than one-size-fits-all outcomes imposed by the court.

A mediator with a background as a practising solicitor brings valuable legal experience to support you, offering:

Quicker resolutions: Helping you reach agreements faster, easing stress and bringing clarity sooner.

A more cost-effective path: Avoiding the time, expense, and complexity of going to court.

Support for better relationships: Reducing tension and encouraging cooperation to help maintain or improve family connections.

What Can I Expect?

Your first step is a MIAM (Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting)
This is a one-to-one meeting, just with you. It’s your chance to talk through your situation and hear how mediation works.

It’s an important legal step
We’ll explore what you’re hoping to achieve and talk about how mediation might support you.

Then we invite the other person
They’ll have their own one-to-one meeting, just like yours.

Ready to move forward together?
If you both agree that mediation is the right path, we’ll invite you to a joint session to begin working things through.

How Much Does It Cost?

MIAM (your first individual meeting, online via WhatsApp):
£125.00 (no VAT) — lasts around 1 hour

Joint mediation sessions (online via Google Meet):
£120.00 per person, per hour (no VAT) — each session lasts up to 1.5 hours

Help with costs:
We’re part of the Ministry of Justice’s £500 mediation voucher scheme — we’ll let you know if you’re eligible.

We Also Offer Child Inclusive Mediation – What Is That?

Going through a family change—like separation, divorce, or a new family structure—can be overwhelming. Emotions run high, and it’s easy to lose sight of what matters most: your child’s wellbeing and the long-term health of your family. This is offered through our sister company www.childinclusivemediation.com

Child Inclusive Mediation is a thoughtful, family-friendly approach that puts your child at the centre of the process—in a safe, age-appropriate way. It gives children a chance to gently express how they’re feeling, while helping parents understand their perspective during this big transition.

This isn’t about asking children to make decisions. Instead, it’s about making sure their voices are heard and respected. With the help of trained professionals, parents can make more balanced, informed decisions that take everyone’s needs into account.

What Makes Child Inclusive Mediation Different?

  • It Focuses on Emotional Wellbeing
supporting the mental and emotional health of children and parents, this process helps families move through conflict with care and compassion.
  • It Supports the Whole Family
A trained and qualified child mediator gently helps your child share their thoughts and reflect on those insights and use them in a positive, constructive way.
  • Its Future-Focused
This process encourages healing, cooperation, and better communication—laying a strong foundation for co-parenting and moving forward.
